Graduate Proseminar in Sociology, Fall 2009

Target audience
This proseminar is required in the first semester for all incoming graduate students and is highly recommended for other students in the program. All students who receive departmental funding are expected to attend. Continuing students are always welcome and encouraged to attend the proseminar.
Objectives
- To help students integrate themselves into the department and university.
- To help students develop a proactive plan to get the most out of their graduate education, to graduate in a timely fashion, and to find fulfilling employment relevant to their graduate degrees.
- To contribute to the student's overall professional socialization.
- To encourage the strengthening of emotional and intellectual support networks among graduate students, and to broaden and strengthen faculty involvement in this.
